PLATELET RICH PLASMA THERAPY
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy is a fairly new form of treatment that allows us to use your own blood as a way of reducing pain and helping treat a variety of injuries.
Plasma is the part of your blood that carries red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. It is full of growth and healing factors, and platelets that initiate repair and attract the vital help of stem cells for repair and regeneration.
How Does It Work?
With PRP we take a little of your blood and separate out the platelets using a centrifuge. We then inject the material into your injured tendon or cartilage.
The goal of PRP is to resolve pain through healing, and studies have shown that it could produce lasting results. Using this procedure, the need for surgery can also be dramatically reduced by treating injured tissues before the damage progresses to a condition that is irreversible.
Initial improvement may be seen within a few weeks, gradually increasing as the healing continues.
PRP has shown tremendous potential in treating the following:
◦ Rotator cuff tears
◦ Chronic plantar fasciitis
◦ Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries
◦ Pelvic pain & instability
◦ Back & neck injuries
◦ Tennis elbow
◦ Ankle sprains
◦ Tendonitis
◦ Ligament sprains
